Network Affiliations

Purpose: There are several major sports networks that contain syndicated programming and affiliate radio stations. These include: ESPN Radio Network, Fox Sports Radio Network, Sporting News Radio Network and Sports Byline USA. Updating the sports network information will update a significant number of sports programs, radio stations and schedules.

There are four major steps to reviewing and updating team affiliates and schedules:

1. Review and reconcile network information.
2. Review and reconcile network affiliate list.
3. Reconcile and reconcile network programming schedule.
4. Review and reconcile network program information.

Review and Reconcile Network Information

Assigned to: Associate Editors

1. Visit the Web site for a sports network.
2. In RadioMill, search for the network name in the “Work with Stations” input box. (Currently in RadioMill, sports networks are entered as radio stations.)
3. Compare and update all information listed on the station page for the network.

Review and Reconcile Network Affiliate List

Assigned to: Data entry team

1. In RadioMill, click “Manage Affiliations.”
2. Select the network in the drop-down box and click “Review.”
3. Click on the “Web URL” link.
   • If the page still exists and appears to contain updated information, make no changes.
   • If there is no link, the page does not exist or the information is outdated:
     1. Visit the network’s Web site and look for affiliate information.
     2. Copy the link location for affiliate information, and put it into the Web URL field.
     3. Click “Save.”
4. Compare the affiliate list with the network’s official list.
5. Remove any obsolete station(s):
   1. On the affiliate page, click on the station to be removed.
   2. On that station’s page, go to the Affiliation section.
   3. Click on the network’s name in the right box.
   4. Click the left-pointing arrow to remove the network name from the box.
   5. Click save.
   6. Repeat as necessary.
6. Add any missing station(s).
   1. On the affiliate page, type the station call sign into the input box just above the list.
   2. Click the link of the appropriate station on the list.
   3. Click “Add Station.”
   4. Repeat as necessary.
7. Review the updated RadioMill affiliations page to ensure that it matches the network’s official list.

Review and Reconcile Network Programming Schedule

Assigned to: Sports Moderator

1. Visit the Web site for a sports network and find the page listing its programming schedule.
2. In RadioMill, search for the network name in the “Work with Stations” input box. (Currently in RadioMill, sports networks are entered as radio stations.)
3. On the network’s station page, click the “Schedules” link.
4. Compare and update the RadioMill network schedule with the official network schedule.

Review and Reconcile Network Program Information

Assigned to: Sports Moderator

1. Visit the Web site for a sports network and find the page listing its program descriptions and schedules.
2. In RadioMill, search for each program in the “Work With Programs” input box.
3. Compare and update the RadioMill program information with the official network program information.
