People Can Listen to Radio on Your Web Site or Blog
Widgets are chunks of code from radiotime.com servers for using inside other web pages. This means they’re small, use neutral colors, and offer functionality requiring little user interaction. Widgets automatically show live radio programming that visitors can enjoy.
You or your web site administrator copy and paste a little HTML code into the pages where the widget belongs. The technology applied combines JavaScript and inline frames (an HTML and browser standard for incorporating secondary content in a page).
A single radio station widget displays information for one station from the RadioTime directory. The widget, as you can see below, includes station’s logo, name, schedule information (what’s on now, what’s on next, and so on.), and direct links to listen.
Local radio widgets display locally available AM/FM stations and their associated “on now” programming based on the user’s IP address or any U.S. postal code as the widget below shows.
Options
Zip: U.S. zip code can override the IP location detection and display for a radio market. If you want to use the IP address, delete “?Zip-90210″.
Size: “Standard” or “skinny” indicates the size of the widget. Standard is 270 pixels while skinny is about 150. The default is “standard.”
Layout: “List” or “dial” to select a layout for the widget. A dial displays the stations one at a time, much like a standard analog radio, while the list view displays a table. The default is dial.
Use your free RadioTime account to find and add favorite radio stations and shows as Presets. Create a collection of radio stations and shows. The preset widget displays the information that appears in the preset.
1. Logon with a free RadioTime account and make any collection of favorite stations and/or shows finding them and adding to presets.
2. Get your Widget ID from My Info, click Get my Widget ID.
3. Now grab the sample html text above but replace the username (like “def0f582-c3df-4c9b-961b-9825529ca2eb”), with your own from step 2.
4. Paste the complete html snippet where you like.
5. Experiment with the layout options below if you like.
