Localization

Overview

Most radio content is local, meaning it has a native language and associated metadata in that language. For the most part, we capture this metadata “as-is” and do not perform any translation. However, it is important to note:

  • The primary city name of a station will be an English equivalent for the native name
  • For non-ISO8859-1 languages, the station name will be an English equivalent for the native name

Translations

We do maintain translations of our category names (genres, some regions) and other text such as menus and labels. Our supported language list at this time:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • German
  • French
  • Italian
  • Swedish
  • Dutch

Content Switching

Our APIs recognize and follow the standard HTTP Accept-Language header. If set to a supported ISO value, localized content will result. See the API reference for details on overriding localization for specific calls.
