Regional Updates

Own radio in your region

As a radio enthusiast you bring special insight particular city, country, or language.

To get started, we ask that you use the Edit or Fix-It links on pages or email changes to share updates. A moderator will accept good changes and/or reply with feedback (assuming we have your email).

If you stay engaged beyond a small batch or more than a few days, we can invite you to become a moderator with access to faster web-based editing tools.

Most moderators are volunteers, but for major regions that need an ongoing monthly commitment we advertise and pay for part-time work.

These are the types of updates needed:

Spot problems in the region structure

Browse regions to local radio market(s) to identify common mistakes.

  • Bad region structure for those who live there, for example a mix of states and cities.
  • Identify regions too large or small based on the similarity and radio selection.
  • Missing regions based on a “culture/economic market”.
  • Region names should be spelled consistently.
  • Region names must be localized (German regions in German). This is done with a special link.

Spot obvious market problems

Once you browse to local markets you know, try to spot the following:

  • Cities in the wrong region, or regions too large or small.
  • Local radio is missing stations, especially the best known.
  • Local radio has stations that obviously don’t belong.
  • Stations are missing streams that work on devices (sweep from your device).
  • Names are not localized, inconsistent or misspelled.
  • Wrong slogans, genres or cities.
  • Old or poor quality logo, especially for major stations.
  • Duplicates listed under slightly different names.

Advanced users can directly access Google Map-based tools for managing regions and what’s in them. But we’ll look for text feedback first to confirm a fit.
