RadioTime celebrates Halloween

RadioTime celebrates Halloween this weekend with “Halloween Haunts.” The channel features links to Halloween music and Halloween radio dramas.

Listeners can tune into a stream of Orson Welles’ original “War of the Worlds” broadcast from 1938. Also, WMPG in Portland, Maine will air a live Halloween-themed radio drama on Saturday night.

In addition, WWOZ presents live coverage of the Voodoo Music Festival all weekend from New Orleans. They’ll have live performances from Papa Grows Funk, George Clinton, Trombone Shorty, and others.

Tim McGraw performs live on CBS Radio

Tim McGraw will perform live tonight at The Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City in conjunction with an apperance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The concert will be broadcast on several CBS radio stations. The broadcast starts at 8 PM Eastern and can be heard on the following stations:

VH1’s annual Hip Hop Honors show airs on Tuesday, October 13. The show features performances from some of the biggest names in music. Also, VH1 will reward the best hip hop radio stations and DJs from around the country. RadioTime has created a special channel featuring the nominees for “Best Hip Hop Radio Station” as well as some of the nominees for “Best Hip Hop DJ.”

On Monday, Hockey visits Absolute Radio for a live performance. The show airs at 5 PM Eastern.

On Tuesday, tune into Radio Margaritaville for a replay of Jimmy Buffett’s concert from November 7, 2001 in Birmingham, Alabama. “Jimmy Buffett’s Concert Replay” airs at 8 PM Eastern.

On Wednesday, Son Volt stops by the KEXP studios. Hear the live performance at 10 PM Eastern.

On Thursday, Pete Yorn joins “Words and Music from Studio A” on WFUV at 9 PM Eastern.

On Friday, ESPN Radio 1100 hosts their annual radio marathon in conjunction with The UFC. Many UFC fighters will be hosting shows throughout the day. It begins at 1 PM Eastern when Al Bernstein is your host. Following the well-known boxing personality will be Randy Couture, Chuck Liddell, Dana White, and others.

News coverage continues to focus on the confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor. CNN provides live coverage throughout the day. Commentary is available on RadioTime from Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Jack Rice, and Ron Reagan. Also, Larry King talks about Sotomayor tonight at 9 PM Eastern on CNN. Larry will also discuss the latest developments concerning the death of Michael Jackson.

In sports, three-time Cy Young Award winner Pedro Martinez is close to signing a contract with the Phillies. Follow the last news from Philadelphia and get the reaction to Pedro’s arrival from Howard Eskin at 3 PM Eastern on WIP.

Tune into KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” at Noon Eastern for a live performance from Foreign Born. At 2 PM, Ben Lee stops by “The World Cafe” on WXPN for a performance and interview. Then, at 6 PM, WOXY’s weekly show, “Artrocker Radio” hits the airwaves. BBC Radio 1 airs the newest music as part of “BBC Introducing” at 7 PM tonight. For jam band fans, “The Grateful Dead Hour” will be on GDRadio.net tonight at 9 PM Eastern. Then, hip hop fans will want to check out “Baller’s Eve” on East Village Radio at 10 PM.

CNN provides coverage throughout the day from the Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearings on Capitol Hill. The proceedings begin at 9:30 AM Eastern. You can get reaction from both the “left” and the “right” by following various shows on RadioTime. Rush Limbaugh goes live on WABC at Noon Eastern and Sean Hannity follows Rush at 3 PM. For a different perspective, tune to Air America with Jack Rice hosting from Noon – 3 PM Eastern and Ron Reagan hosting at 6 PM Eastern.

In sports, the Major League Baseball All-Star Game takes place in St. Louis tonight. For a preview of tonight’s game and the latest information leading up to the game, tune into WXOS.

The world came together on Friday to remember a legend, and as people have done for decades, they turned to radio to provide the soundtrack for their memories.

Following news that Michael Jackson passed away on Thursday, RadioTime users on Friday flocked to Top 40 Soul and Hip-Hop radio stations. Hip-hop stations experienced the most significant increase.
