On Wednesday, former Philadelphia Phillies Larry Bowa and Ricky Bottalico get fans ready for Game 5 of the World Series.  They’ll be co-hosting shows on WPEN from 10 AM – 2 PM Eastern.  WPEN’s pregame coverage for Game 5 begins at 7 PM with postgame coverage beginning at approximately midnight.

On Monday, KEXP continues a live broadcast from Bumbershoot in Seattle.  Starting at 3 PM Eastern, listeners will hear live sets from Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, The Cave Singers, Akron/Family, Vieux Farka Toure, and Metric.

On Tuesday, BBC Radio 6 offers live coverage of the annual Mercury Prize, given for the year’s best album from the UK or Ireland.  Steve Lamacq hosts Tuesday’s show beginning at 1 PM Eastern.  This year’s nominees include Bat for Lashes, Friendly Fires, Glasvegas, and Kasabian.

On Wednesday, Absolute Radio airs a special which looks back at The Beatles’ “Rubber Soul” album.  The show is hosted by Ben Jones and airs at 4 PM Eastern.  It is part of a month long tribute to The Beatles on Absolute Radio.  The station will be looking back on the entire Beatles’ catalogue throughout September.  Wednesday marks the release of The Beatles re-masters as well as the release of “The Beatles:  Rock Band.”

On Friday, Crazy Cousinz takes over BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix.  The show begins at 8 PM Eastern on BBC Radio 1.

On WXPN at 2 PM Eastern, Dan Hicks joins “World Cafe.” Tonight, at 7 PM Eastern, BBC Radio 6 looks back at the life of Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett as they continue their documentary, “The Thing about Syd.” Fans of jam music can tune into Thor Bendickson’s weekly “In the Groove” show on WMNF at 9 PM Eastern.

In sports, two hot topics in baseball will be discussed on ESPN Radio this afternoon.  Colin Cowherd welcomes Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies at 1:40 PM Eastern. Rollins will surely give his opinion of the Phils’ attempts to acquire Roy Halladay from the Blue Jays. Also, Baseball Hall of Famer Joe Morgan joins “The Scott Van Pelt Show” at 2:30 PM Eastern. Morgan will likely give his take on reports that commissioner Bud Selig is considering a removal of Peter Rose’s lifetime ban from baseball.

Thursday was a record day for radiotime.com led by thousands looking for the Dallas Cowboys Packers game. Sports is huge radio category, many fans listen to the audio from radio while watching TV. NFL games are not streamed (beyond an occasional affiliate who forgets to block the simulcast).
