Windows 7 is fast and beautiful, but it breaks radio recording utilities. Fortunately the current RedButton is fully compatible.

RedButton is a great TiVo for Radio desktop solution that ads pause and scheduled recording to RadioTime’s program guide. The desktop tuner and pause features are free. Recording is still a low-low one-time $29 fee (warning – a price raise is coming soon). Finished recordings automatically synch with your iPhone or Touch.

We’re live with a maintenance release of the RadioTime site and API platform, featuring more organized video stream browsing. If your player supports Windows Video (v9) you will find a new root-level menu in OPML and OpenMedia for “Live TV”. We’ll be working in the coming week on a TV channel with best bets for a great experience.

Meanwhile on the radio side, we completed our roll-out of live song information. You’ll see now playing artist and title for several thousand stations in the US. We hope to expand this coverage later in the year and work in features like search for song, recommend stations by artist, and playlist history.

The build today also includes “under the hood” improvements for geolocation and local radio, plus new OPML APIs for account management.

Enjoy radio on your TV. It’s already connected to the best audio system in your home and is (or will soon be) connected to the internet through your home network.

In-Stat forecast over a quarter billion connected TVs or various set top boxes will ship in 2012. In-Stat also reports 55% of Americans already listen to music from their TV set. .

RadioTime has offered a Windows Media Center Edition solution for a few years, even bundling the app with popular extenders. More recently Boxee added RadioTime as a feature.

We have higher hopes for apps and widgets bundled with popular TV products including today’s announcement with Vizio.

BBC National stations have long been available outside the UK by using their Real Networks stream — desktop had the download/install/browser plug-in hassles. Unfortunately, few connected devices support Real Networks streams which kept these (most popular global) stations off limits.

Now the rest of the world can join UK users and enjoy the major BBC stations globally thru the Windows Media streams.

Now most RadioTime users will find BBC under World->National Networks->BBC. Or you can find them by browsing the UK, or searching for BBC. BBC Listen again content is still only available in Real, but you can access some programs on-demand or for download in the MP3 format.
