RadioTime Tuner Connects New Radio Players to More Major Broadcaster Stations
News Release
Listeners quickly find and listen to radio programs while broadcasters retain branding
DALLAS – April 8, 2008 – RadioTime, Inc., a developer of technology for finding and listening to more than 50,000 AM/FM radio stations online, has launched a new tuner that lets listeners access Internet streams of nationally syndicated programs on their computers and new network music players with radio built-in such as the Linksys DMA 2200 Media Center Extender and the Logitech® Squeezebox Duet, Logitech® Squeezebox and Logitech® Transporter network music players. The new RadioTime Tuner is now live for all Clear Channel and Cox Radio stations nationwide.
Previously, content from Clear Channel and Cox Radio was only accessible from a desktop using the broadcaster’s unique player. Now, devices with radio built-in allow listeners to access these companies’ content along with Internet and traditional radio from one place. Music lovers leveraging these technologies can listen to their personal digital music collection, Internet radio and subscription services on the home-entertainment system in their living rooms, the stereo system in their bedrooms and even on the mini-system in their kitchens – anywhere they have audio gear.
“Radio broadcasters often restrict their Internet feeds to their specific desktop player, however, their desktop players won’t work in new radio products,” says Bill Moore, CEO of RadioTime. “RadioTime has worked with major broadcasters to meet the needs of listeners who own desktop and network music players. Now a listener can tune into Atlanta’s legendary news/talk station WSB or the Rush Limbaugh program using wireless players in multiple rooms in the home, such as the Logitech Squeezebox.”
“The Squeezebox unchains listeners from the computers and enables them to easily listen to AM/FM radio Internet streams on their home entertainment systems,” said Robin Selden, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s Streaming Media Systems business unit. “Now the ability to access content via RadioTime from these major national broadcasters makes finding and listening to their favorite programs effortless.”
“It’s critical that radio stations leverage their content without erecting barriers to listening,” says Mark Ramsey, president of Mercury Radio Research. “Too many radio station streaming players are more about controlling content that distributing it. Broadcasters’ content has to be everyplace and in every channel. RadioTime has made this easy for broadcasters and easy for their current and potential listeners.”
